On giving thanks – 11.6
On November 6, 2011, I am thankful for an incredible group of friends in North Carolina.
I feel so lucky that I get to live here for so many reasons, but topping the list is being surrounded by a group of people who are at once hilarious, supportive, inspiring, life-giving, and just downright fun. I was reminded of this today when a bunch of them came together for a last-minute surprise brunch in celebration of Nick’s 48 hours in town.
This fantastically good-looking group of people is capable of making even the most benign of events supremely ridiculous. They have made the rigors of grad school and the loneliness of our separation tolerable, and someday, they’re going to change the world. They’re not all pictured here, of course, but this is the subset who gathered today for reuniting over mimosas, quiche, and pumpkin vegan food-like scones. They humored Nick’s wildly inappropriate comments as well as his wildly inappropriate Movember mustache, and for that I am forever grateful.
Heebs, here’s to you. I’m thankful for ya today and every day.
