On giving thanks – 11.4.

On November 4, 2011 I am thankful for being in public health.

Today, I became a part of a team of global health revolutionaries, who invited me to the table to discuss how to improve child survival in the developing world. First order of business = do we want to go to Senegal, Honduras, or Indonesia?

Today, I met with an incredible
mentor who urged me to dream bigger and made me feel inspired about what I can do next.

Today, I attended a Latino youth reproductive health conference, where I was brought to tears listening to what was perhaps the most honest, insightful, and hopeful discussion about homosexuality, discrimination, and bullying I could ever imagine. (why can’t grown ups do that?)

Sometimes grad school is hard, and sometimes that makes me lose sight of what brought me here.

Not today.
